Swipe Fee Reform
The Texas Senate Business & Commerce Committee heard SB 2026 and SB 2056 on Thursday, April 3. Two pivotal bills to reform unfair swipe fees costing your business thousands annually.
- SB 2026 (Campbell): Stops fees on sales tax and employee tips—amounts you collect but don’t keep.
- SB 2056 (Hancock): Boosts competition/transparency in credit card transactions and bans anti-competitive practices.
Why Act Now? Banks will oppose this fiercely. Lawmakers need to hear from you, the businesses these bills protect.
How to Help (3-Minute Action):
- Register support online via the Capitol portal:
- Connect to Capitol WiFi
- Visit swrs.senate.texas.gov.
- Select "For" on SB 2026 and SB 2056.

HB 9 Bill Advances!
HB 9, a bill to raise the personal property tax (also known as the inventory tax) exemption for businesses to $250,000, up from $2,500, has passed to engrossment with overwhelming support (132 Yeas, 12 Nays).
This is a major step toward reducing costs for our industry!
